GCF Readiness
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness programme is a funding programme to enhance country ownership and access to the Fund.
UNOPS assists the work of the GCF through grant support management services. The objective of this grant is to support the implementation of tools, methodologies and financial instruments for the mobilization of funding from Colombian Financial Institutions towards a portfolio of pilot projects that can deliver robust impacts on mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
These projects are structured in 3 areas prioritized by the Financial Sector. The Colombian Pilots of Financial Innovation seek to generate private and public innovative collaboration schemes that may address specific public policy priorities, such as the Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement. At the same time, they are designed to identify and take advantage of business opportunities and sustainable investment from the financial and productive sectors.
The Readiness support will be implemented by Asociacion Bancaria y Entidades Financiarias (Asobancaria), a Colombian association under the guidelines from the government that takes part in the project through the representatives from the different Ministries and organizations.

MPTF Project for Mine Action in Colombia 2017
As a result of more than fifty years of conflict involving various actors, Colombia suffers from widespread landmine and explosive remnant of war (ERW) contamination. Despite the number of new mine and ERW victims having fallen steadily since a peak in 2006, Colombia still registered 56 new casualties in 2017 and, in a concerning reversal of the downward trend, almost double that during the first half of 2018 alone. Since 2010, UNMAS has assisted Descontamina Colombia and humanitarian demining organizations to increase the sector’s capacity and develop its coordination and regulatory frameworks. Following the ratification of the 2016 Peace Accord between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP), mine action has benefited from improved access to previously inaccessible contaminated areas and increased funding. It contributes further to building and sustaining peace in Colombia through the reintegration of ex-combatants through employment in mine action.
The overall objective of this project is to strengthen the institutional presence of the Acción Integral contra Minas Antipersonal (AICMA) policy in the territories, with the purpose of improving the coordination capacity, in order to expand the capacity of the Colombian State to provide effective and timely assistance to the territorial public institutions and communities affected by Antipersonnel Mines, Unexploded Munitions and Improvised Explosive Devices.
The project is funded by the Colombia Post-Conflict UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund. UNOPS is an implementing partner of UNMAS programs.

MPTF - UNMAS Colombia Reintegration through Demining (HUMANICEMOS)
This project proposes to facilitate the establishment of a civil organization of humanitarian demining composed of ex-combatants. With the launch of this organization and the generation of its operational and management capacity, the rehabilitation of up to 146 ex-combatant women and men is expected, in addition to the positive social and economic impacts that the developed humanitarian demining work can deliver to the communities.
In this way, the project will contribute to the construction of peace in Colombia. The project is funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund and the Colombia Post-Conflict UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund. UNOPS is an implementing partner of The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) programs.

Support to the Development of Colombian Mine Action Capacities, Colombia, 2019 VTF Multi-Donor

It contributes further to building and sustaining peace in Colombia through the reintegration of ex-combatants through employment in mine action.
The overall objective of this project is to mitigate the impact of explosive hazards on affected communities by a capable humanitarian mine action sector. And to help communities benefit from mine action and for Mine Action to serve as a tool for building and sustaining peace, and enabling development.
UNOPS is an implementing partner of The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) programs. The project is funded by the Government of Denmark and the Netherlands, through the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Assistance in Mine Action (UN VTF). The purpose of the UN VTF is to support a coherent multilateral humanitarian response to risks posed by mines and explosive remnants of war.
